Based on the Nissan D21 Hardbody Pickup the original Desert Runner was an option package for the standard cab, short bed, 4x4 pickup truck that offered a custom offroad package with special paint and equipment similar to Nissan's Baja race team. Based on photographic evidence, Desert Runner equipment showed some variability during production and modification. Production of the Desert Runner was limited and actual survivors rare, and in 2013, at 25 years old, the Desert Runner will be considered a "classic".
Little official documentation on the Desert Runner program and it's vehiles exists on the internet. One of our goals is to change that and this registry we will be adding information as we can confirm data. Another goal is to have all the surviving Desert Runners registered before the trucks birthday in 2013.
Registration is free and open to any and all current owners of this rare offroad machine. Stay tuned for details on how to register your truck. If you want to upload photos of your Desert Runner please click here. We will pe partnering with ConnectedByCars.com to develop services for this site.
Sorry, Nissan doesn't offer the Desert Runner any more, but they still make a fine truck. To find a deal on a used Nissan 4X4 click here.
